DIWRNOD HMS
INSET training
Dance is a core subject within the Expressive Arts Area of Learning and Experience (AoLE) under the new Curriculum for Wales. The curriculum promotes experiential learning and provides a framework for schools to design their own programs, meaning for teachers with no background or experience in any artistic form there is a knowledge and skill gap. Arts Council of Wales have acknowledged there's a recognised need for robust support and resources in Welsh, English, and BSL to ensure dance receives parity with other art forms.
Diwrnod HMS equips teachers with the confidence and ability to teach exciting and engaging dance classes without having to know ‘dance steps’ or ‘specific styles.’
We guide teachers through a range of creative and pupil-led tasks which allow all learners to be challenged and to gain a sense of achievement within every lesson. We also guide you through the key aspects of a lesson, which you can then apply to any theme or current school topic.
Diwrnod HMS are planned to be bespoke to your school and learning environment, can focus on one Key Stage or cover the whole school and can include anything and everything, from warmups, creative tasks, performance ideas, lesson planning, cross-curricular learning, music ideas to much more.
